Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find an answer to your question please reach us at lessons@movementinmusic.ca

This depends how much you want to improve. We recommend once a day but understand that is not always feasible since some weeks may be busier than others. Simply put; the more you practice, the better you'll get!

We hold 3 recitals a year for our students. Performances are great incentive for improvement and give students a goal to work towards. Performances are not mandatory but are strongly encouraged. Beginner students sometimes feel like they're not good enough but we ensure them that, whether an absolute beginner or a seasoned veteran, there is always room for them on that stage!

Lessons are split into three sections

  1. Warmup and exercises: This gives the student a chance to play their instrument in a low stress environment and work on their technique.
  2. Repertoire: This is the fun part where we make music!
  3. Wrap-up: The end of lessons are used to review what is expected of the student that week.

We recommend to bring a binder for any photocopies, spare paper or notebook for any notes, a pencil, and a water bottle (especially if you're a singer.)

We have group workshops during the summers for ages 3-18 and group classes during the school year for ages 1-18. We are wanting to expand our classes to include adult classes in the coming year, if this is something that interests you, let us know and we will contact you when registration opens.

Yes! We can incorporate multiple instruments in one longer lesson or do separate lessons for each instrument. We also offer classes that cover multiple instruments (voice, piano, ukulele, guitar, and drums).
